Mount Yashima, we love the gorgeous view from the top overlooking the Seto sea. It is a great place to go on walks and has some of the best souvenir shops in Takamatsu. If you want to buy a Tanuki, you have to get an authentic one from Mount. Yashima.

Biggest Surprise in Japan

I've spent three years in Asia, but never have I seen such luscious green scenery as Japan has.
The one thing that was a big surprise to me was how almost everyone has beautiful gardens.

Best Thing about Japan

Japan is enriched with various aesthetics from Buddhist and Shinto art to wabi-sabi. Also the number of gardens in Japan is endless.
Here in Takamatsu there are many unique Japanese restaurants and also restaurants with food from all over the world.

Favourite Place in Takamatsu

one of my favorite stores thus far is Daiki One.
It has everything from Japanese furniture to pets and plants.
If you like tropical plants, the nursery there is to die for.
My favorite store in Takamatsu is the arcade in downtown Takamatsu.

It wouldn't be fair if I didn't give Ritsurin Park the credit it deserves.
My favorite artistic spot is the train ride.

My favourite place in Takamatsu is Lion Street in the shopping arcades.
It has a lot of great restaurants, and it's a cool place to walk down.

Most Beautiful Place in Takamatsu

The most artistic spot in Takamatsu is definitely the boardwalk along the Sunport.
It's a very beautiful place to walk along the sea and look out at all of the islands and Mt. Yashima, to watch the boats and the yachts sail around, and to see the sunset.

If I had to say anything to a traveler to Japan, it would be to look beyond Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Other small islands, cities or prefectures may not have famous names, but they show Japan's breathtaking nature, and fascinating history and architecture.
